Rewiring & Electrical Fault Finding

Make sure your new home is safe, that it is not suffering any electrical faults or in need of any rewiring.

Rewiring & Electrical Fault Finding

Has your new or existing property ever suffered from overloaded circuits, electrical surges or faulty wiring. From time to time, problems do occur in your property that require the attention of a professionally qualified electrician. The DMH Electrical team are on hand to assess and repair any identified fault to the highest standard, no matter the scale of the job – from minor plug socket and light fitting replacements through to full-scale electrical rewiring.

How do you know if your home is in need of a rewire?

If your property has not been rewired within the last 25-30 years, it is very likely it will need upgrading, either in part or full to bring it up to current standards. The wiring may be potentially dangerous and may not be able to cope with the demands of modern living.

You may be able to tell if a house has been rewired recently by inspecting exposed parts of the wiring or by the electricity meter and fuse box (now known as the consumer unit).

In addition, if you are experiencing any of the below problems we advise contacting an expert to have your wiring assessed.

  • Intermittent lighting or power.
  • Fuses repeatedly blowing
  • Wiring or switches & sockets in poor condition or damaged.
  • Green sticky substance (the dreaded green goo!) on wiring or accessories.
  • DIY or poorly installed wiring or accessories.

What is the process involved when rewiring your home?

Our electricians will firstly need to come out to your property to view and discuss your individual requirements. An individually tailored quote will then be provided to you shortly after our initial quote visit. Upon reviewing the quote, if you are happy with the list of works and choose to accept it, our team can then book the work in for you at your earliest convenience.

To book an initial Free, No Obligation quote, please call DMH Electrical on 01908 803567.

Once the work commences the rewiring process will involve removing all accessible old wiring and accompanying accessories before replacing with new. This can take in the region of 5 days to 3 weeks for a 3 bedroom property, however the time frame will vary according to the size and specification.

The rewiring process will ordinarily involve the lifting of carpets & floorboards & drilling and chasing into the walls for the cables. This is because cables tend to be recessed into walls or run under the floors in order to reach existing wiring and install new.

All holes and chases are plastered and made new once the wiring has been installed, allowing lights, switches and sockets to be fitted.
